Casper the Commuting Cat

Casper became a national celebrity when newspapers ran the story of the amazing cat that regularly took the No. 3 bus on 11-mile journeys around his home town, Plymouth, in Devon. While his devoted owner, Susan Finden, had wondered where her elusive pet was disappearing to each day, Casper was brightening the lives of countless commuters as they went about their business.

Bus drivers, too, were getting well-acquainted with Casper, and notices went up in their depot alerting staff that a very special passenger might board their vehicle. In fact, he became a mascot for the bus company, and pictures of him and Susan adorned No. 3 buses.

When Casper was sadly killed by a car in early 2010 messages of sympathy flooded in from places as far a field as Australia and Argentina. It quickly became clear that Casper and his remarkable story had touched the lives of so many people around the world.

Movingly told by the owner who loved him dearly, Casper the Commuting Catis the touching story of a very special black-and-white cat who rode the bus and stole our hearts.

What a lovely book! I read it while I was ill and I finished it in two days !This true story is simply and movingly told by the moggy's owner Susan, a true cat lover whom everyone can relate to. Not only does she tell Casper's story but her other cats are portrayed in a lively way ; it also has a very British feeling and pride all around and I am sure that such a lovely story could only take place in Britain, where people are kind and considerate to animals. There were also some lovely and funny pictures of Casper on the bus seat, with his owner, with his favourite bus driver, plus the other cats in the house! So my advice, if you are a cat lover is, please buy this book and spread this moving tale everywhere to be sure that Casper will always be remembered.

This book is so well written, full of heart, feelings and emotions. It is a very captivating book to read and once you start reading it, you cannot stop. Susan describes her story, Casper's story and all her other cats' stories so beautifully..You can feel how much she cares not only for her cats but also for people, and I wish there are more people like her to be so caring in this world. It is with great sadness to read about Casper's passing and how it happened. It is a highly recommended book for all cats/animals lovers.

This is a beautifully written book about relationship between cats and people. If you love cats this book is a must but you would enjoy it even if you don't as it is a warm amusing and sad true story, it will make you laugh out loud and also shed a tear, but that's what life does.
